Autumn Wedding Fair - Sunday 2nd November 2008
Many brides married at Halswell have remarked on how much they enjoyed the 'after dark' atmosphere on their big day. With this in mind we have launched what is probably the first 'Nocturnal Wedding Fair' in the country.
On a dark winter's evening in December you will be greeted by flaming torches as you approach the house. Delicate shades of red and blue will bathe the north façade in dappled colour lending an air of welcoming warmth and charm. On entering the west hall a spirit of occasion will greet you with period costumed stilt walkers, moody lighting and the gentle crackle of open fires roaring in authentic period grates coming from the adjoining rooms.
After being served your complimentary mulled wine you are invited to tour the house and discover the magic of this 17th century pleasure house decked in full party mode. Quality wedding suppliers from the southwest, funky table settings to get you thinking and a walk round couture show by internationally renowned bridal designer Sassi Holford (hotfoot back from showing her latest collection in New York) are in store for you.
If you need to rest a while then choose from the enclosed Elizabethan courtyard, surrounded by bedecked topiary tress, the elegant 18th century Morning Room in candle-lit splendour or maybe take yourself to the treatment room for some pampering by Buff, our urban day spa specialists. A short fireworks display by Halswell's preferred pyrotechnics supplier will celebrate the evening event at 8.30pm on the front lawn.
