Tulip Fair - Halswell parties in the snow
The recent Tulip Fair was a great success…not always for the reasons originally planned! The Goathurst Pre-School set the ball rolling at the beginning with a fun time celebrating tulips. Swanky headpieces and a treasure hunt made the day a memorable one. As anyone with children will testify, trying to get them to stand or sit still is an impossibility. Here’s our best effort!
A picture is worth a thousand words? Well, below give you something of the flavour of the rest of the week! The baroque evening was a great success and all thanks to the superb playing of the ensemble from Wells Cathedral School. The audience were then treated to a traditional English supper which went well until the pudding… then the snow started…
…an announcement was made alerting guests to the perils of the outside conditions but people we having such a good time it was decided to offer everyone a bed for the night and the party on. Sometimes an impromptu event just takes over and the sense of camaraderie was in full swing. The following morning the ensemble wowed everyone with a rendition of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (Winter) on the roof while guests enjoyed a hot-tub experience in the freezing conditions. What can you say? Some party…. And not one we’ll forget in a hurry!
The Friday lectures were unfortunately cancelled but we are rescheduling these in the near future.
Wedding Fair regardless…
The Sunday wedding fair was a great success! While other venues decided to cancel we decided to carry on and spent the previous night clearing snow for visitors. We were gratified so many people turned up and while numbers were down, the atmosphere and booking rate for Halswell and exhibitors was phenomenal. Did you come?
