Remember, remember the 5th November, gunpowder, treason and plot!
Halswell's annual fireworks party went off with its customary bang this year. The weather was good to us with rain and wind abating long enough for the proceedings to reach their finale. The unique Phoenix Firebird was a great success with young and old and gave the evening a slightly surreal atmosphere. While 500 guests waited for the pyrotechnics extravaganza to burst forth Halswell itself played host to the mulled wine station, children's face-painting and a costumed storyteller recounting the tale of 'The Golden Bird' in the upstairs ballroom.
St Margaret's Somerset Hospice were in attendance with Christmas goodies and a raffle. To end the evening a sumptuous hog roast kept the cold air at bay. A thoroughly entertaining evening and the best bonfire night yet!
